Please click on the video below to watch my Vlog. I am getting used to holding a camera in one hand, flipping through the book with the other and remembering what I want to say. Now I have uploaded this video, I wish I would have gone into more detail about how Mikelle speaks authoritatively about Yemoja worship in Abeokuta, backing up her words with fieldwork and photos. Pretty awesome! Michelle is also an initiate (in Candomble) and so has access to and sensitivity for the religion that is often lost with professors who treat our religious traditions as curious and for “those people.” This is very accessible and a great read.
